Casa de Escuta Santa Maria Madalena is a listening and support initiative created within the mission of Comunidade Nos Passos do Mestre. Inspired in 2013, it provides compassionate support for people navigating grief and loss, offering a welcoming space to share emotions without judgment. Its services include free individual grief counselling, the Memorial da Saudade, an online way to gather and pay tribute to someone who has died, and Canal Esperança, which sends supportive text messages to people who are ill or hospitalized.
The initiative also offers the Pense na Morte quiz to encourage reflection and discussion about death, alongside prayers for the deceased, spiritual resources, and content on its blog about bereavement, coping, self-care, and finding hope after loss. Through volunteers, online gatherings, and its social media channels, Casa de Escuta seeks to foster empathy, connection, and emotional and spiritual comfort.
