Casa do Juiz

Casa do Juiz is a Portuguese social solidarity association established in 1997, created to address the social and cultural needs of judges and now serving the wider community. Guided by a people-centred approach, it aims to provide support with dignity, companionship and attention to each person’s wellbeing. Its work includes a specialized team and a geriatric centre in Bencanta, Coimbra, which has operated since 2009 as a residential home for up to 30 older adults.

The association also supports legal knowledge and publishing through the Colectânea de Jurisprudência, a jurisprudence collection founded in 1976 that helped the institution grow. Its offerings include legal books and an online jurisprudence service. In addition, Casa do Juiz provides an auditorium available for association activities and events hosted by interested businesses. The organisation is supported by volunteer judges serving through its governing structures, while its programmes and facilities bring together social care, cultural activity and legal resources.
