Casa Aperta ODV is a volunteer association based in Modena, Italy, supporting missionary work and vulnerable communities since 1987. Inspired by the commitment of missionary doctor Luisa Guidotti Mistrali and Father Giorgio Gagliani, the organization connects local communities with people who provide and support assistance around the world. Its work focuses on practical, lasting improvements in healthcare, education, and local development, in collaboration with missionary partners.
Casa Aperta supports projects across Africa and South America, including healthcare at the Luisa Guidotti Hospital in Zimbabwe, medical assistance in Angola, and educational initiatives in Congo and Zimbabwe. Its wider mission activities also include programs in countries such as Sierra Leone, Brazil, and India. The association’s Happy Doctor project helps train new doctors and improve access to healthcare in African missions.
Supporters can contribute through donations and Italy’s 5x1000 tax designation, volunteer their skills, or take part in fundraising events. Casa Aperta also shares news and educational stories to raise awareness of its projects and promote global solidarity.
