About Casa Santa Marta
Casa Santa Marta is a social solidarity institution in Chaves, Portugal, dedicated to the care and assistance of older people. Its mission is rooted in Christian charity and reflects the work of the Congregation of the Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly, which founded the institution in 1936. Casa Santa Marta was formally established on 19 January 1984 and operates within Portugal’s legal framework for Private Institutions of Social Solidarity.
The institution aims to provide qualified, competent and certified services for older people. Its facilities include bedrooms, shared spaces and gardens, supporting residents’ daily lives and opportunities to spend time together. Visitors are welcomed during designated morning and afternoon periods, with visits held in communal or dedicated visiting rooms.
Casa Santa Marta also shares information about its leadership and technical team, mission, values, facilities, activities and annual reports. The organisation is based on Rua Alferes João Batista in Chaves and provides contact channels for enquiries. Its work brings together elderly care, practical support and a charitable commitment to the community.
