The Canadian Association for the Study of International Development (CASID) is a national, bilingual, interdisciplinary, and pluralistic association dedicated to promoting new knowledge in the broad field of international development. It brings together people interested in development studies and supports opportunities for research, discussion, and professional engagement. CASID offers individual and institutional membership, shares news and calls for papers, and organizes an annual conference. Its 2026 conference, held in partnership with the Canadian Association of African Studies, is scheduled to take place in person and virtually at York University’s Glendon Campus in Toronto.
CASID also supports the Canadian Journal of Development Studies (CJDS), including its editorial and publication activities, and provides policy briefs. Through CCCUPIDS and its related initiatives, including Ignio, the association offers additional ways to explore and contribute to development scholarship. Members and other participants can submit work, access publications, get involved, and engage with the association’s events and governance. CASID serves as a scholarly network connecting research and conversation across the international development field.
