About CASME
CASME, the Centre for the Advancement of Science and Mathematics Education, is a non-profit education development organization dedicated to improving the teaching and learning of mathematics and science in under-resourced schools in South Africa. Their main focus is on rural, peri-urban, and disadvantaged schools. Through training and support programs, CASME helps both teachers and learners to enhance their skills and knowledge in these subjects.
They offer various initiatives, such as the Mobile Science program, which brings innovative mobile resource centers to schools, benefiting over 15,000 learners and 150 teachers from 30 schools. CASME also runs the #FutureFund campaign, raising awareness about the need for calculators in rural and township schools. They have compiled valuable resources for teaching and learning, including materials to support remote learning during the COVID19 lockdown.
