Sicklebill Safaris

Cassowary Tours is a locally based wildlife and nature tour operator serving Cairns, the Atherton Tablelands, and other parts of Far North Queensland. The company offers birdwatching, wildlife, and photography day tours, as well as longer accommodated tours through the Wet Tropics. Its itineraries also extend to destinations including Cape York, Georgetown, Lakefield (Rinyirru) National Park, and other areas of North Queensland, with additional Australian and overseas trips available through its parent company, Sicklebill Safaris.

Tours are led by experienced local guides and run in small groups of one to six people, using air-conditioned vehicles. Cassowary Tours emphasizes ethical wildlife watching and says its guides hold the required permits, insurance, licenses, and authorizations. The region’s rich natural diversity makes the tours suitable for visitors interested in birds, mammals, and other wildlife, as well as photography and natural history. The company also donates a percentage of tour profits to the Tree Kangaroo & Mammal Group, which works to conserve tree-kangaroos and other mammals in Far North Queensland.
