Thanks to the collaboration between the Generalitat de Catalunya, the Real Automóvil Club de Catalunya, and the Montmeló City Council, the circuit has become a prestigious venue for racing events. The circuit first hosted the Spanish Touring Car Championship just five days after its opening, followed by the Formula 1 Grand Prix a few weeks later on September 29.

In addition to these international events, the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya also hosts the FIA World Rallycross Championship and the World Superbike Championship. The calendar is further enriched by the FIM CEV Repsol International Championship, the Barcelona Festival of Speed, the International GT Open, endurance races like the Catalunya Motorcycle 24-Hour Endurance Race, the Barcelona 24-Hour Race-Trofeo Fermí Vélez, and the Spanish Resistance Championship (CER).
