About Cátedra HERCRITIA
HERCRITIA, the International Chair of Critical Hermeneutics, is an academic and cultural organization based at UNED’s Faculty of Philosophy in Madrid. It promotes philosophical inquiry and dialogue through research, teaching, public events and international collaboration. Its activities explore critical hermeneutics alongside themes such as political thought, Greek philosophy, literature, art, aesthetics, spirituality, ecology, health and contemporary social change.
The organization offers seminars, courses, conferences, workshops, lectures and poetry-and-music events, with many programs available through its video mediatheque. Its initiatives include the permanent seminar on the history of Greek philosophy, the Aulas Itinerantes de Pensamiento Crítico, and international meetings devoted to thinkers such as Gianni Vattimo, Hans-Georg Gadamer and Michel Foucault. HERCRITIA also publishes philosophical material, shares interviews and event recordings, and organizes international awards, including the HERCRITIA-UNED and HERCRITIA-Santander prizes. Through these educational and cultural programs, it connects researchers, students and wider audiences interested in philosophy and the humanities.
