Cathalaunia is an independent historical research and knowledge-sharing project focused on the roots of Catalan culture before the 12th century, when the name Catalunya began to be used for the region. The site uses “Cathalaunia” to identify this earlier period and to bring together information about its history and heritage. Its central resource is a wiki presenting historical data with an emphasis on accuracy and careful verification.

The site is organized into sections covering prehistory, the Iberian and Roman periods, the Visigothic era, the Early Middle Ages, and Judaism, alongside bibliographies, author indexes, references, abbreviations, and related links. It also provides information about the project’s methodology and an archive of its blog. Cathalaunia was launched to make knowledge about the past more accessible, including lists of known medieval documents associated with notable figures.

Historians and other contributors can share material by email or, with authorized access, edit the wiki directly. Visitors may also use the corrections page to report errors, suggest new information, or share ideas
