Cattlemen’s Days is a community-organized rodeo and summer celebration in Gunnison, Colorado, honoring the region’s ranching heritage. Established in 1900, it is described as Colorado’s longest-running rodeo and the nation’s fourth longest. Each July, the event brings professional cowboys and cowgirls, local participants, families, and visitors together for several days of Western sport and entertainment.
Its main attraction is a three-night Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) rodeo, featuring events such as bull riding, bronc riding, team roping, and barrel racing, alongside announcers, comedy acts, and rodeo clowns. The program also includes 4-H and FFA activities, livestock projects and auctions, horse shows, a parade, a carnival, and watershed events such as ranch rodeo, ranch sorting, barrel racing, and team roping. Visitors can also explore vendor offerings and community entertainment.
Cattlemen’s Days welcomes contestants, spectators, sponsors, and volunteers. Parade entries, horse show participation, vendor applications, and other signups help make the annual celebration a shared expression of Gunnison Valley traditions.
