Catya Plate is a distinguished artist, director, writer, animator, and producer based in Brooklyn, New York. Originally from Barcelona and raised in Germany, Plate has been pushing the boundaries of stop-motion animation since her arrival in New York in 1987 on a Fulbright Scholarship. Through her production company, Clothespin Freak Productions, she breathes life into her unique characters, producing acclaimed works such as the eco-conscious short film trilogy "Hanging By A Thread" and the award-winning "Las Nogas." Her innovative approach combines humor and storytelling with a strong feminist and environmental ethos, addressing themes of species survivalism.
