Cavalo Amigo is the Portuguese Association for Equestrian Therapy and Training, a private, nonprofit association founded in 2007. Based in the district of Coimbra, it works to promote sporting, therapeutic and adapted horse riding for the local community, including people with special needs and disabilities.

Its therapeutic programme offers therapeutic riding, hippotherapy and adapted riding for children, young people and adults. The association also runs a riding school, teaching and developing equestrian skills in line with the Portuguese Equestrian Federation’s official training plan, from riding levels 1 to 9. Its equestrian holiday activities encourage children to interact with horses and explore sensory, physical and emotional experiences intended to support their physical and cognitive development.

Cavalo Amigo is located at Parque Urbano de Lares, Avenida Beira-Rio, in Lares, Vila Verde, Figueira da Foz. Through its programmes, the association brings together equestrian education, recreation and therapeutic practice, with activities designed for participants with varied needs and abilities.
