About Cavan and Leitrim Railway
The Cavan and Leitrim Railway Museum, established in 1993 and operated solely by volunteers, is a haven for Irish transport and railway history enthusiasts. Nestled beside the Irish Rail station in Dromod, on the former Cavan and Leitrim Railway grounds, the museum boasts a remarkable collection. Visitors can explore narrow gauge railways, vintage buses, trucks, aircraft cockpits, Irish Air Corps planes, WW1 & WW2 artillery, and operational steam railways.
Guided tours offer a comprehensive insight into the rich history of transportation in Ireland. With a recommended duration of 45-60 minutes, visitors can also enjoy a ride on the narrow gauge railway for a truly immersive experience. The museum is open from Easter Sunday through the end of September, with varying hours on Saturdays, Sundays, and Mondays.
