Cavola

Pro Loco Cavola promotes Cavola di Toano, the largest village in the municipality of Toano, in the Reggio Emilia Apennines. Located at about 500 metres above sea level in the Secchia valley, the village combines mountain landscapes, local traditions and a history reaching back to the 12th century. The association shares visitor information about landmarks such as the church of San Michele Arcangelo, the Madonna della Neve oratory and works by the Ceccati sculptors, as well as walking, cycling and hiking routes, including the Via Matildica del Volto Santo.

A central focus is Cavola’s food and cultural calendar. Since 1988, Pro Loco Cavola has organised the province’s first truffle festival, celebrating the prized white truffle alongside wild mushrooms, Parmigiano-Reggiano and Apennine cuisine. The festival features market stalls, exhibitions, music by the Banda di Cavola and a truffle lunch at CavolaForum, for which advance booking is essential. The organisation also promotes the spring Prugnolo Mushroom Festival and summer events at CavolaForum.
