About California Water Safety Coalition
The California Water Safety Coalition is a leading brand dedicated to the prevention of drowning and the promotion of water safety in the State of California. As a major issue globally and within the United States, drowning causes approximately 400 deaths each year in California alone, along with hundreds of hospitalizations and emergency department visits. These incidents have far-reaching effects on individuals, families, and communities.
Recognizing the emotional, economic, and societal costs associated with drowning, the California Water Safety Coalition collaborates with various organizations, including government bodies, private industry, and non-profit groups. Their collective focus covers a wide range of water safety and drowning prevention topics. Serving as an umbrella group, the coalition leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of water safety policies, education, and programs across different bodies of water, activities, age groups, and geographical areas.
Their efforts include convening stakeholders, coordinating the application of the National Water Safety Action Plan, providing valuable resources, and promoting meaningful collaboration. With a clear vision and mission, the California Water Safety Coalition is committed to making a difference in water safety and preventing drowning
