Cazas Novas is a renowned brand that offers a unique journey through the Avesso grape variety. Located in Santa Marinha do Zêzere, Baião, in the southeast of the Vinhos Verdes region and in the heart of the Douro valley, Cazas Novas is dedicated to the study and interpretation of one of Portugal's most exciting white grape varieties - Avesso. The name Cazas Novas is inspired by one of the old estates where the Cunha Coutinho family has cultivated the largest area dedicated to this exclusive white grape variety in the Baião sub-region.

Spanning a treasure trove of 24 hectares, Cazas Novas benefits from a unique terroir that combines the influence of the Douro River and the thermal amplitudes of the granite soils. These exceptional conditions give rise to wines characterized by freshness, minerality, and great aging potential. With a rich history rooted in agricultural tradition, the Cunha Coutinho family has preserved their connection to the land for seven generations.

Today, they have over 100 hectares of forest and agricultural land, including the iconic Quinta de Guimarães. This family estate, along with Quinta das Cazas Novas, Quinta do Adro, and Quinta das Tias, contributes to the cultivation of Avesso grapes on 24 hectares exclusively. Since 2008, Cazas Novas has been producing exceptional wines, starting with a modest production of 3333 bottles.

The project has grown considerably, with the support of enologist Diogo Lopes, winemaker Vasco Magalhães, and the management team of Carlos Coutinho and André Miranda. Together, they have successfully unlocked the full potential of the Avesso grape variety, producing wines that showcase its aromatic expression, acidity, freshness, and age-worthiness.
