The Canadian Biotechnology Action Network (CBAN) is a collaborative initiative comprised of 15 organizations dedicated to addressing the challenges posed by genetic engineering in food and agriculture. With members including farmer associations and environmental justice groups, CBAN aims to promote food sovereignty and democratic participation in technology-related decisions. Positioned under the MakeWay Charitable Society, CBAN leverages shared resources to enhance its impact in advocating for transparency and accountability in government practices concerning biotechnology.

CBAN provides a wealth of information, including publications such as factsheets and articles, and proactively engages in research and monitoring of new technologies. Their mission is to empower individuals through effective action, while also ensuring that civil society has a voice in policy development regarding GMOs. The network invites the public to get involved, participate in campaigns, and stay informed about issues through newsletters and ongoing updates. By facilitating dialogue and action around genetic modification, CBAN strives to protect environmental integrity and public health across Canada and beyond.
