About Familiegeschiedenis
CBG Familiewapens is a family-history resource from CBG, the Centre for Family History, dedicated to documenting Dutch family heraldry. It brings together tens of thousands of photographs of wax and other seals, along with images of coats of arms, made accessible through searches by name or place. Visitors can explore registered family arms and historical seal impressions, with records that may include heraldic descriptions, dates, collection references and information about original documents.
The site also provides guidance on searching and a collection of articles exploring heraldry’s history, meaning and place in society, including its connections with identity, military life and cultural traditions. Examples in the collection show how arms and seals are associated with particular families and preserved in archival sources and historical armorials. CBG Familiewapens supports people researching family history and those interested in Dutch heraldry by making these visual and documentary sources easier to discover.
It is part of CBG’s broader offer of family-history collections and research resources
