About Familiegeschiedenis
CBG Centrum voor Familiegeschiedenis is the Netherlands’ centre for family history, helping people explore genealogical records and learn about family research. Its online collections bring together millions of historical sources that can help users trace people, families and events across generations. These include family announcements, police records, East Indies sources, memorial cards, family files, printed family materials, photographs, wartime records, manuscripts, family archives and other genealogical collections.
The records offer varied glimpses into the past, from birth and death details to photographs, estate documents and historical notices. CBG provides information about its collections and guidance on data and scan accessibility, supporting visitors as they search and interpret sources. Archival documents and publications from its library and collections can be consulted in the reading room of the National Archives.
