About AAVMC
The Council on Outcomes-based Veterinary Education (COVE) is a leading authority in advancing Competency-Based Veterinary Education (CBVE). Established in 2015 through a collaboration of veterinary education leaders and supported by the American Association of Veterinary Medical Colleges (AAVMC), COVE aims to develop impactful, workplace-based assessment tools for veterinary professionals. This collaborative effort incorporates expertise from a diverse group of educators across the USA, Canada, the UK, and the Netherlands, ensuring a comprehensive and global perspective on veterinary education.
COVE offers a variety of resources, including assessment toolkits, scholarly publications, and professional development materials designed to enhance the veterinary education landscape. Their initiatives also include three specialized working groups—CBVE Advocate, CBVE Catalyze, and CBVE Analyze—focused on promoting and implementing competency-based practices. COVE actively participates in events like VetEd 2024 and AMEE 2024, positioning itself at the forefront of innovative education in veterinary medicine.
