About Coalition for Clean Air
The Coalition for Clean Air (CCA) is California's only statewide organization dedicated solely to addressing air quality concerns. Since its founding in 1971, CCA has been at the forefront of advocating for environmentally responsible air policies that promote public health and combat climate change. With offices in Sacramento and Los Angeles, CCA works collaboratively with advocates, organizations, and policymakers to find cooperative solutions to California's most pressing air quality issues.
CCA focuses on several key areas of work, including California Climate Equity, Ports & Freight Transport, and Driving Clean Transportation. They strive to regulate air toxics, energy, and other pollution sources comprehensively. CCA has also achieved significant victories, such as mandating a smog check-like program for heavy-duty trucks and leading the Charge Ahead California Campaign to transition to one million electric vehicles on California roads.
Additionally, CCA has successfully fought for the banning of harmful chemicals and reduced greenhouse gas emissions from cars. By championing these policies, CCA has achieved remarkable results, including a 70% reduction in smog in the Los Angeles area since 1980 and the sale of over 500,000 electric cars in California.
