About CCPC Zambia
CCPC Zambia, also known as the Competition and Consumer Protection Commission, is a statutory body under the Ministry of Commerce Trade and Industry in Zambia. With a dual mandate, CCPC aims to protect the competition process in the Zambian economy and ensure consumer welfare. Since its establishment in 1997 as the Zambia Competition Commission (ZCC) and subsequent renaming in 2010, CCPC has regulated the Zambian economy to prevent anti-competitive practices, abuse of market power, and cartels that can harm consumer welfare.
They also assess and investigate mergers to ensure fair market conditions. Consumer protection is a significant aspect of their work. CCPC investigates and analyzes violations of consumer rights, educates the public about their rights, and facilitates advocacy and mediation between businesses and consumers.
Guided by the values of professionalism, integrity, respect, excellence, responsiveness, and transparency, CCPC operates under the governance of a Board of Commissioners appointed by the Minister of Commerce, Trade, and Industry. Additionally, the organization has several committees focused on technical matters, audit and risk management, and finance and administration. With their commitment to promoting competition, protecting consumers, and ensuring ethical practices, CCPC plays a crucial role in safeguarding economic welfare in Zambia
