The Canal Communities Regional Addiction Service (CCRAS) is a regional organisation supporting people and communities affected by substance use in Bluebell, Inchicore and Rialto, Dublin. It complements the work of local organisations and the Canal Communities Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force, addressing the causes and consequences of substance misuse. Its work covers drug and alcohol support, harm reduction, health promotion, education and prevention, drug-free supports, community development and safety.
CCRAS offers one-to-one support, outreach and group services, including dedicated support for people experiencing problems with cocaine or tablets. It also provides education and training, encourages community participation, and supports staff and service users. Through its Service Users’ Forum, people can contribute ideas about improving services, while Vocaleyez magazine offers a platform for stories, poems and articles.
The service operates Monday to Friday, with some out-of-hours groups and individual support. Based at Oblate Hall in Inchicore, CCRAS is funded by the Department of Health through the Canal Communities Local Drug and Alcohol Task Force and the HSE.
