The Consultative Committee for Space Data Systems (CCSDS) is a multinational forum where space communications experts from 28 nations collaborate to develop communications and data systems standards for spaceflight. Its work aims to improve interoperability and cross-support between government and commercial organizations while reducing project risks, development time, and costs. More than 1,000 space missions have chosen to use CCSDS-developed standards.
CCSDS provides a broad library of publications, including recommended standards, practices, informational reports, experimental documents, and historical records. These cover areas such as space link services, spacecraft interfaces, mission operations, systems engineering, cross-support, and space internetworking. The organization also maintains document reviews and supports protocol registries through the Space Assigned Numbers Authority.
For the space community, CCSDS offers working groups, implementation software and guides, training courses, meeting and conference resources, and information about compliant missions and products. Member agencies, observers, associates, and liaison organizations can participate in its activities, including standards development and technical meetings.
