About STAR
STAR, the Champaign County Soil & Water Conservation District, is a local government organization that has been dedicated to the conservation of natural resources since 1943. Governed by a five-person board of directors, who are elected by landowners and occupants within the district, STAR aims to develop and implement a comprehensive conservation plan. They receive funding from the Illinois Department of Agriculture and the Champaign County Board.
Additionally, technical assistance is provided by personnel assigned from the U. S. Department of Agriculture, Natural Resources Conservation Service.
