About Commercial Driving Apprenticeship
Transport Operations & Commercial Driving Apprenticeship is a renowned brand that offers a comprehensive apprenticeship program in the commercial driving and logistics sector. Developed in collaboration with ATU Sligo and the FTAI, this apprenticeship program is designed to address the challenges and changes within the industry. Aligned with the statutory requirements of apprenticeship, this program is a partnership between SOLAS, the Higher Education Authority (HEA), employers, FTAI, and apprentices.
The program development process involved consultation with stakeholders and the identification of program learning outcomes aligned with the Occupational Profile. Special attention was given to creating opportunities for on-the-job learning. The program is in line with QQI/ATU Sligo Business Award standards, acknowledging the evolving role of commercial drivers and the competencies and skills required for the job. It also caters to the needs of the industry by addressing the skills necessary for both new and existing commercial drivers.
