Capital District Center for Independence, Inc. Established in 1979, the Center provides a wide range of non-residential services to over 1,500 individuals annually. The Center offers advocacy and self-help instruction, empowering individuals to manage their own affairs and develop self-determination, decision-making, and self-advocacy skills.

They also provide assistance for day-to-day community participation, ensuring individuals can maintain or regain their independence in the community. In addition to individual-based services, the Center works to educate the public, inform public officials, and advocate for improvements in programs that serve people with disabilities. They strive to protect the civil rights of the disabled and improve access to employment, education, housing, transportation, and social and recreational opportunities.
