Chelan is a non-profit organization that provides child development and family support services in East Wenatchee, Wenatchee, and greater Chelan-Douglas Counties. They cater to pregnant women and families with children aged birth to 5 who are low-income. Chelan offers a range of comprehensive preschool and child care programs, home visits, parent and child activities, health screenings, meals, transportation, volunteer opportunities, and parent involvement activities.
They follow a holistic approach to empowering families and promoting school readiness. Chelan operates Early Head Start, a federally funded program serving children from prenatal to age three. They also provide Head Start and ECEAP (Early Childhood Education and Assistance Program) services for low-income/high-risk three to five-year-old children.
Since 1965, Chelan has been serving the community, and today they have five locations throughout Chelan and Douglas Counties, serving 348 children. With 19 classroom sessions that offer both full-day childcare and preschool models, they also provide 50 slots in the Home Base model. Chelan is dedicated to supporting children and families in their educational and developmental journey
