About CEAF
CEAF is the Centro de Estudios Avanzados en Fruticultura (Center for Advanced Studies in Fruit Growing), a scientific and technological center located in the O'Higgins Region of Chile. Their main objective is to improve the competitiveness, productivity, and sustainability of the agricultural industry in the region and the country. CEAF has been working since 2009 to develop hybrid interspecific rootstocks for stone fruits through genetic improvement techniques.
These rootstocks will be more resistant to drought, salinity, and hypoxia, allowing for the expansion of fruit production in Chile. CEAF also aims to develop portainjertos (rootstocks) for cucurbits and has started working on the establishment of the first genetic improvement program for vegetable rootstocks in Chile. Additionally, CEAF offers services such as variety identification, agronomic evaluation, virus identification, and consultancy for agricultural project applications.
Their goal is to be a national reference in R&D with relevance to global trends in the agri-food chain
