CECOP, the European confederation of industrial and service cooperatives, is dedicated to promoting and supporting cooperatives across Europe. With 27 members in 16 countries, CECOP represents over 40,000 enterprises and 1. 3 million workers.

These cooperatives operate in three main sectors: worker cooperatives, social cooperatives, and cooperatives of self-employed producers. Worker cooperatives are owned and managed by the workers themselves, ensuring a fair and democratic workplace. Social cooperatives provide essential services to communities, addressing social, cultural, educational, and environmental needs.

Cooperatives of self-employed producers offer a network of support and resources to overcome isolation and improve security for freelancers and independent workers. CECOP’s vision is to create a supportive environment for cooperatives, promoting sustainable jobs, high-quality services, and social cohesion. They work to represent the interests of their members, support networking and learning, develop cooperatives, and increase their visibility.

CECOP's strategic plan for 2021-2025 focuses on enabling favorable policies, increasing visibility, and building a strong network. Founded in 1979, CECOP has a long history of promoting fairness and dignity in the workplace. They are part of Cooperatives Europe and CICOPA, international organizations supporting cooperatives in various sectors.
