Cedarvale Cemetery is a nonprofit cemetery serving Bay City and the surrounding Matagorda County community. Founded in 1896 by local community leaders, it has grown to include nine original sections and Cedarvale North, opened in 1996. Its 24 acres feature trees, flowers, and paved roads, offering a peaceful setting and burial options for a range of budgets. The Bay City Cemetery Association Board of Directors governs Cedarvale and Cedarvale North.
Cedarvale provides burial spaces, interest-free financing with payment options for pre-burial purchases, and a selection of urns and vaults. A covered chapel is available at no cost for memorials and burial services. Year-round grounds maintenance is included, and monument and marker cleaning or leveling can be arranged. The cemetery also offers free genealogical inquiries about Matagorda County burials at Cedarvale.
The organization honors veterans through Memorial Day flag placements and participation in Wreaths Across America. Donations and legacy gifts support current and future beautification projects. Cemetery grounds are open daily from sunrise to dusk.
