The Centre for Forest Research (CFR), known in French as the Centre d’étude de la forêt (CEF), is a Quebec-based research and training network focused on forestry-related issues. It brings together 87 scientists from 12 universities and one CEGEP in Quebec, alongside 75 researchers from government and university organizations outside the province. Its members study forest biology, ecology, and management, advancing knowledge of forests and the challenges affecting them.
A strategic research cluster financed by FRQNT, the Centre supports collaboration among researchers and institutions and is directed by Daniel Kneeshaw. Its activities include advanced training, research, publications, conferences, talks, and knowledge-sharing initiatives. The Centre also provides resources and professional opportunities, including grants, bursaries and scholarships, employment and study listings, training, and access to research documents and collections.
Its network includes regular, associate, emeritus, visiting, postdoctoral, graduate student, professional, and technical members. Through news, event reports, media coverage, and research updates, the CFR connects its community with developments in forestry, climate change, forest management, and related fields
