About Cefrelco
The Centre d’Étude du Fait Religieux Contemporain (CEFRELCO) is a French nonprofit association dedicated to understanding how religious beliefs shape contemporary society. It welcomes anyone interested in the effects of religion in France and the wider francophone world, and works to build connections between academic research, institutions and the public within the framework of secularism. Through research and knowledge-sharing, CEFRELCO seeks to bring fresh perspectives to the study of contemporary religious life, including monotheistic and other traditions, secularism, education and society.
Its activities include colloquia, conferences, tailored training sessions and workshops on religion and secularism. The organisation also provides advisory services, helping clients consider how to address religious issues and prepare relevant internal documents. CEFRELCO shares its work through publications, analyses, events and online resources, and highlights current debates and developments concerning religion, public life and democratic values.
Founded by historian of religions Jean-Luc Pouthier and Sophie Gherardi, an expert on religion in the workplace, it serves as a meeting point for research and practical reflection
