Celebrate Birds

Celebrate Urban Birds (CUBs) is a Cornell University initiative that brings communities, birds, nature, and science together through accessible, collaborative conservation. Its work is rooted in local priorities and shared knowledge, with a focus on uplifting the voices, cultures, and expertise of communities historically underrepresented in birding and conservation. CUBs partners with local communities and committed organizations to support lasting, community-led efforts and help amplify their impact.

The initiative offers opportunities to explore nature through birding, community-led science, habitat restoration, arts and culture, and activities that connect nature with wellness. It also shares educational materials, practical toolkits, community event ideas, and other enrichment resources to help people discover and protect birds in the places where they live. By encouraging meaningful connections among people, birds, and the natural world, Celebrate Urban Birds aims to inspire conservation actions that benefit communities and contribute to a more vibrant, sustainable planet. Its approach emphasizes authentic partnerships, accessible experiences, and the importance of local voices in shaping conservation.
