Celignis Biomass Lab

Celignis is a specialist biomass analysis laboratory supporting the development of the bioeconomy. It provides precise compositional data and practical expertise to help clients assess biomass feedstocks, improve conversion processes, and identify opportunities to produce fuels, chemicals, energy, and other valuable products. Its clients include start-ups, multinational companies, and universities in more than 30 countries.

The laboratory offers analysis of cellulosic and combustible feedstocks, process liquids, seaweed, biochar, and materials for anaerobic digestion. Services include calorific value and ash testing, carbohydrate and amino acid analysis, biomethane potential testing, near-infrared analysis, thermogravimetric analysis, and evaluation of biochar properties. Celignis also supports biomass research and process development, including pretreatment, hydrolysis, fermentation, extraction, downstream processing, and bioprocess optimisation. Projects can range from work on individual process stages to bespoke integrated technologies developed at laboratory scale.
