Celsa France is one of six business units of the Celsa group and a major steel producer focused on recycling scrap metal. Its facilities in Boucau and Tarnos, on the banks of the Adour River, combine an electric arc furnace steelworks with a hot-rolling mill. Operating since 1996, the steelworks melts recycled scrap to produce steel billets, while the rolling mill transforms billets into wire rod.
The Boucau site can produce up to 550,000 tonnes of billets annually. Around 300,000 tonnes are rolled on site, with approximately 200,000 tonnes processed at Celsa Atlantic’s Laracha facility. Celsa France’s products include steel billets and wire rod, with wire rod available in diameters from 5 to 32 millimetres. Its steel supplies applications including elevator rails, automotive hinges, lightweight construction rails and oil-industry flanges. The company also serves as the principal billet supplier to Celsa Atlantic, which operates mills producing wire rod and corrugated sheet. Celsa France presents its operations as supporting regional industry and the economic activity of the Port of Bayonne.
