Cemeti - Institute for Art and Society (formerly known as 'Cemeti Gallery' and later 'Cemeti Art House') is the oldest platform for contemporary art in Indonesia. Established in Yogyakarta in 1988 by artists Mella Jaarsma and Nindityo Adipurnomo, Cemeti provides a platform for artists and cultural practitioners to develop, present, and practice their work. They collaborate closely with curators, researchers, activists, writers, performers, and local communities in Yogyakarta.

Cemeti offers various programs, including exhibitions, workshops, discussions, publications, long-term research projects, and a three-month artist-in-residence program held twice a year. In 2017, the subtitle 'Institute for Art and Society' was added to express the organization's commitment to socially and politically engaged artistic practices. Cemeti aims to explore the potential of galleries as important sites for civic action.
