About CENIPA
The Centro Nacional de Investigación de Pesca y Acuicultura (CENIPA) is a Venezuelan public research service affiliated with the Ministry of Popular Power for Fisheries and Aquaculture. It generates and applies scientific and technological knowledge to support sustainable, innovative development across the country’s fisheries and aquaculture sectors, and to promote the responsible use of aquatic resources.
CENIPA’s work spans fisheries research, aquaculture, professional training, and communication of scientific information. Its research teams plan and carry out projects focused on fisheries, aquatic environments, related activities, and technologies that can improve productivity while conserving habitats. In aquaculture, the organization supports research, development, innovation, and production of aquatic resources and related inputs. Its professional services include educational programs for the public and sector personnel, from school and community initiatives to seminars and technical diplomas. CENIPA also documents and shares research findings and technological advances.
With experimental stations, active initiatives, and a nationwide network of researchers, CENIPA connects science, education, and practical expertise to strengthen Venezuela’s fisheries and aquaculture communities.
