About Center for Plant Conservation
The Center for Plant Conservation (CPC) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to preventing the extinction of rare plants and protecting native plant diversity. It connects more than 80 plant-focused institutions and conservation partners, combining scientific research, practical experience, and shared resources to support effective conservation. CPC’s National Collection represents more than 2,690 of the world’s rarest plants, safeguarded by its partner network and used to help restore healthy populations in the wild.
CPC provides conservationists with science-based guidance, training, and tools. Its offerings include the Rare Plant Academy, an Applied Plant Conservation course, best-practice resources, and forums where professionals can exchange knowledge. The organization also provides public resources such as the Rare Plant Finder, pollinator database, and reintroduction information, along with California and Florida plant rescue initiatives. Through advocacy, partnerships, education, and seed banking, CPC supports habitat protection, species recovery, biodiversity, and resilient ecosystems. Individuals and organizations can get involved by donating, sponsoring conservation work, becoming partners, or subscribing to its newsletter.
