About Center for the Human Past
The Center for the Human Past (CHP) is an interdisciplinary research and education platform focused on understanding human history over the past 10,000 years. Based in Uppsala, Sweden, it brings together archaeology, genetics and linguistics to investigate the shared histories of human populations and address questions that benefit from evidence across these fields. The center supports this work through research collaborations, fellowships and opportunities for researchers, including postdoctoral and junior fellowship activities.
It also shares knowledge through publications, news and public outreach, helping connect academic research with wider audiences. Its program includes educational initiatives, talks, mini-seminars and a journal club, alongside events that encourage discussion and exchange among researchers and the public. CHP highlights current projects, new findings and the work of its fellows, with research spanning topics such as population history, genomic diversity and archaeological evidence.
