About Central Mosque Rochd
Central Mosque Rochdale (CMR) was established in 1974 to cater to the religious, social, cultural, and recreational needs of the Muslim community in and around Rochdale. Originally located in an adapted church building on William Street, the mosque provided daily congregational prayers, Jumma (Friday prayers), and Eid prayers. It also conducted after-school classes for Quran, Arabic, and Urdu studies.
As the Muslim community grew, the need for a larger facility became apparent. In January 1996, CMR purchased a one-acre site across the road for the construction of a purpose-built mosque and community center. This magnificent new mosque, initiated in December 1996, aimed to provide a one-stop Islamic center, featuring a beautiful mosque, a large community center, and a learning facility for Muslim boys and girls.
With its dedication to meeting the needs of the local community, CMR continues to be a place of worship, education, and social engagement
