Central Oregon Bentonite Co. is a family-owned and operated bentonite producer founded in 1957 by Lewis (Ole) Weaver and his son, Carl Weaver. Based about 60 miles southeast of Prineville, Oregon, the company carries out its mining, grinding, and bagging on site. It also formed a cat litter business in 1967.
The company supplies bentonite for a range of applications, including sealing freshwater ponds, irrigation ditches, reservoirs, sewage systems, and industrial water lagoons, as well as grouting permeable soil. Products are available in 50-pound bags and 2,000–2,200-pound sacks, with fill options including 1/4-inch-minus, 1/4- to 3/4-inch, and 2-inch-minus material. Bulk offerings include 2-inch-minus, 1-inch-plus, and, in limited supply, 1/4-inch-minus material. The company also lists 3/4-inch-minus and raw bentonite, with 200-mesh material planned.
Central Oregon Bentonite Co. delivers locally, statewide, and nationwide, and provides customized shipping quotes. Orders are by appointment; customers can contact the company for product guidance and delivery information.
