About Centrepoint
Centrepoint, the UK's leading youth homelessness charity, has a remarkable history that began in 1969 as a small night shelter. Today, their work with young people has expanded beyond recognition over the last 50 years. Started by Reverend Ken Leech in the heart of London's Soho, Centrepoint aimed to provide a safe place for young homeless individuals to sleep.
From there, they evolved, offering not just temporary shelter but also a pathway for young people to escape homelessness. What makes Centrepoint unique is their commitment to providing not just a bed, but a home where young people can rebuild their lives with the dedicated support of their frontline workers. They have grown over the years, offering services across the country and developing innovative approaches to address youth homelessness.
Collaborating with other charities, Centrepoint aims to bring about systemic change and end youth homelessness. Currently, Centrepoint supports over 2,000 young people every day through their various services, including floating support, rough sleeping assistance, and resettlement programs. However, with more than 129,000 young people experiencing homelessness last year, Centrepoint's mission is more crucial than ever.
Despite their growth, Centrepoint remains true to their roots, providing young people with the opportunity to overcome homelessness and achieve the futures they rightfully deserve. By working together, Centrepoint and their incredible supporters, volunteers, staff, and ambassadors have made a significant impact in the lives of over 16,000 homeless young people each year. Centrepoint recognizes the importance of personal and professional development for their staff, ensuring they have the skills and resources to give young people the futures they deserve.
Join Centrepoint in their mission to change the story. No young person's life should be defined by homelessness. Stay updated with Centrepoint's latest news and developments by signing up for their newsletter.
