Centro do Yoga do Lumiar is a yoga centre located in the Lumiar district of Lisbon, Portugal. Its guiding principle is that yoga builds harmony, health and well-being by uniting body, mind and consciousness. The centre presents yoga as an ancient Indian philosophy and a path of balanced personal development, supported by regular, disciplined practice. Its stated benefits include reduced stress, improved strength and flexibility, greater vitality, and better emotional and mental functioning, while respecting each practitioner’s limits.
The centre practises a range of yoga techniques, including pranayama, the conscious regulation of breathing to support energy, concentration and meditation; mantra, the recitation of Sanskrit syllables; and yantra, geometric representations used in practice. It also offers Kriya Yoga techniques, which are available by initiation. The centre describes these disciplines as tools for self-knowledge, presence and personal evolution. Visitors can contact the team for information about class schedules and practice at its Lisbon location on Rua Professor João Cândido de Oliveira.
