About Cerebral Palsy Malaysia
Cerebral Palsy, also known as CP, is a neurological condition that affects the movement, structure, and coordination of the body. It is caused by damage to the developing brain's motor control centers, which can occur during pregnancy, delivery, or infancy. With 17 million people worldwide living with CP, it is the most common physical disability in childhood, with 1 out of 300 children being affected.
GAPS (Gabungan Anak-anak Palsi Serebrum) is a registered non-profit organization that was founded in 2016. Their mission is to create possibilities for the Cerebral Palsy community to have a better quality of life. GAPS offers various programs and support services, including empowerment and knowledge-building initiatives, socio-emotional support and advocacy, and raising awareness about CP.
Their activities include caregiver and public trainings, workshops, webinars, sports programs like CP Frame Football, support groups, equipment donation projects, CP awareness campaigns, and participating in events like World Cerebral Palsy Day.
