About CERL
CERL (Consortium of European Research Libraries) is dedicated to improving access to and preservation of the European printed heritage. As a collaborative platform, CERL was established in 1992 by research libraries across Europe and officially formed in June 1994. By sharing resources and expertise, CERL aims to enhance the exploitation and accessibility of printed materials dating back to the hand-press period (up to approximately 1850).
CERL functions as a vital support system for curators, librarians, and researchers working with early printed books and manuscripts. Their comprehensive services include resources, publications, legal documents, and membership information. Through strategic planning and collaboration, CERL fosters a community where research libraries can come together to exchange knowledge and expertise.
As a company limited by guarantee under English law, CERL is committed to its mission of preserving the European printed heritage. Their registered office is located in Marsh's Library, St. Patrick's Close, Dublin, Ireland.
