The Canadian Filmmakers Distribution Centre (CFMDC) is a Toronto-based organization dedicated to bringing independent films to audiences. Since 1967, it has supported the exhibition and distribution of independent, artist-made moving-image work, with a particular focus on films from historically underrepresented communities. Its collection includes 16mm, 35mm and Super 8 films, and visitors can browse the catalogue, book films, or explore filmmaker spotlights and curated compilations.
CFMDC invites filmmakers to submit work through open calls held three times a year and offers distribution information and consultations. Its post-production services help prepare films for exhibition, including DCP packaging, subtitle and caption creation, and content testing in its DCI-compliant cinema space. The organization also operates CineCycle, a distinctive cultural venue in a historic Victorian coach house at 401 Richmond in downtown Toronto. The venue is available for booking and has served as a gathering place for the cityโs independent and experimental film community for more than three decades. CFMDC further offers membership and engagement opportunities, including workshops and internships.
