Center for Traditional Martial Arts (CFTMA) provides traditional and practical martial arts training in Ohio, serving Bellefontaine, Wapakoneta, Zanesfield, Marysville, and nearby communities. Established in 2002, the school teaches within the Eugue-Ryu Karate-Jutsu lineage, drawing on Japanese martial arts traditions while including practical self-defense skills. Its programs welcome children from age five, teens, and adults, with instruction in a disciplined and supportive environment.
Offerings include youth karate and kids’ jujitsu, as well as adult Karatejutsu, which combines traditional striking with self-protection, anatomy, and meditation. Adult jujitsu incorporates Brazilian jiu-jitsu and Japanese jujutsu, covering throws, takedowns, joint locks, and submission grappling. Students can also study Iaido, the Japanese sword arts, through seminars, or pursue ATAC (Armed Tactics and Combatives) for advanced self-protection training. CFTMA additionally offers kata classes, women’s self-defense, and belt testing.
Training is available at three locations: Jukido Kai in Wapakoneta, the Hilliker YMCA in Bellefontaine, and the CFTMA Dojo in Zanesfield. A free first class is offered, and no prior experience is necessary.
