Chablis

Chablis, terre d’histoire is a nonprofit association founded in 2019 in Chablis, in France’s Yonne region. Its work focuses on studying, helping preserve, and sharing the historical heritage of Chablis and the surrounding areas of Fyé, Milly, and Poinchy. The association explores the region’s built heritage, including religious and civic buildings, châteaux, historic townhouses, and streets, as well as the people and customs that have shaped local life.

Through historical research, documentation, and archiving, the organization develops resources for residents and visitors. Its website features articles, historical chronicles, heritage stories, and archival material, including historical recipes. The association also helps bring local history to life through public events such as guided visits, talks, and exhibitions. Recent activities have included visits to sites connected with the Hundred Years’ War and an exhibition about the spire of Chablis’s Saint-Martin collegiate church and its restoration. Members and supporters contribute to this work, and the association invites people to share photographs, documents, testimonies, and architectural information to enrich its documentary collection and pass local heritage on to future generations.
